Open shelving is one of the most debated topics in kitchen design. People either love it or find it chaotic. I think the secret is in the curation — treat your shelves like a styled vignette, not a dumping ground.
Edit ruthlessly
Only keep things on open shelves that are beautiful or genuinely useful. A stack of pretty ceramic bowls? Yes. Your collection of mismatched Tupperware? Absolutely not. Be brutal about what earns shelf space.
Group by material and colour
Group similar materials together — a cluster of terracotta pots, a row of glass jars, a stack of cream plates. Colour cohesion makes a shelf look intentional rather than random.
Add height variation
Mix tall and short items to create visual interest. A tall olive oil bottle next to a short stack of plates, with a small potted herb at the end — that's a shelf that tells a story.
